Resumen
Se entregan los primeros resultados sobre las prospecciones y excavaciones realizadas en el área del lago Sofía, distrito de Ultima Esperanza (Magallanes, Chile). Específicamente se informa sobre las excavaciones desarrolladas en la Cueva 1 del lago mencionado en donde se han evidenciado tanto ocupaciones paleoindias como del período tardío, en este último caso se trata de un entierro por cremación. Finalmente se presenta y discute el aporte de este sitio en el contexto de los ya tradicionales hallazgos en el área de Cueva del Milodón.
The first results on the prospections and excavations made at the northern area of Lake Sofía, Ultima Esperanza, Magallanes (Chile) are given. Especifically, the excavations carried on at Cave 1 of the mentioned lake, where both palaeoindian and late-period occupations have been evidenced, the latter by a burial by cremation, are reported. Finally the apport of this site at the context of the already traditional findings in the area of the Milodon Cave are presented and discussed.
