Se comunica el registro de Planorotalites australiformis (Jenkins) en la Formación Agua Fresca (Eoceno) en la cuenca Austral de Chile. Se aportan algunos antecedentes descriptivos y se discute la posibilidad de que G. sp. cf. G. compressa Plummer, citada por Todd y Kniker (1952) y que G. membranacea (Ehrenberg) citada por Charrier y Lahsen (1968) para la formación Agua Fresca, correspondan a este taxón.
The presence of the foraminifer Planorotalites australiformis (Jenkins) in Eocene sedimentary deposits of the Agua Fresca Formation, Chilean Austral Basin, is here reported. It is posible that G. sp. cf. G. compressa Plummer cited by Todd and Kniker (1952) and G. membranacea cited by Charrier and Lahsen (1968) would be the same taxon.
